With his job offer on Valentine’s Day 2007, Dr. 大厅 became Converse’s first full-time professor of German language and literature in nearly 60 years. As the university’s only Germanist, he teaches all levels of language, literature, and culture. He also directs the new major in Communications and Media Studies. Mirko’s upper-division courses focus on the intellectual and cultural history of German-speaking Central Europe since 1750. His recent seminars on “Science Fiction Cinema of the Eastern Bloc,” “Freud: The Netflix Series,” and “The Media Theory of Byung-Chul Han” continue to attract students from across the university.
