Converse First-Gen Students Recognized by City of Spartanburg
The City of Spartanburg recognized first-generation college students from local colleges during the First-Generation College Student Celebration Day Proclamation at the City Council meeting on November 14, 2022.
Since 2017, institutions, corporations, non-profits, and K-12 schools throughout the U.S. have celebrated first-generation students, 教师, 工作人员, and alumni on November 8, designated the First-Generation College Celebration day.
根据 The Center for First-generation Student 成功, November 8 was chosen as the date for the annual National First-Generation College Celebration to honor the anniversary of the signing of the Higher 教育 Act of 1965.
The City of Spartanburg took the opportunity at the City Council meeting to recognize and celebrate significant contributions made by first-generation students and the teams at the colleges and universities that support them.
